Northern and central India are currently getting relief from severe heatwaves, and no heatwave conditions are expected for at least the next one week.
Weather expert Mahesh Palawat has said that a very intense Western Disturbance will become active over the mountainous region on June 3 and will strengthen further by June 4. Due to this, heavy rainfall is expected in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha in Maharashtra. Some districts of Gujarat will also see rainfall.
The IMD has issued a high alert warning that north-west, central, and east India may face strong winds of 50 to 70 km per hour, thunderstorms, and hailstorms this week.
In Maharashtra's Vidarbha region, light to moderate rain with strong winds is expected from June 2 to 4. Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana will see heavy rain with thunder between June 2 and 5, with wind speeds possibly reaching 70 km per hour on June 3 and 4. Rajasthan will see stormy rain from June 3 to 5, while Jammu-Kashmir and Uttarakhand are likely to receive light to moderate rain with hail from June 2 to 6.
However, states like eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha will remain mostly dry for the next 3 to 4 days before rainfall begins there as well.
