Mumbai, July 5, 2026: Bollywood star Aamir Khan and his longtime partner Gauri Spratt have married in an intimate ceremony at the actor’s residence in Bandra, Mumbai, marking a new chapter in a relationship that traces its beginnings back nearly 25 years.
The couple completed a registered marriage on Sunday in the presence of close family members, friends and their children, according to reports. The low-key celebration reflected the couple’s preference for privacy, with the ceremony taking place away from the large-scale festivities often associated with Bollywood weddings.
A Connection That Began in Bengaluru
Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt first met in Bengaluru nearly 25 years ago. Although they knew each other at the time, their lives moved in different directions and they eventually lost contact.
Their paths crossed again in mid-2023 through a family connection. Aamir later described the reunion as accidental, saying that they remained in touch and that their friendship gradually developed into a romantic relationship.
The couple dated privately for around 18 months before Aamir publicly introduced Gauri as his partner in March 2025, around the time of his 60th birthday celebrations.
Speaking about their relationship at the time, the actor said that they had known each other for decades and that their relationship developed naturally after reconnecting.
From Private Romance to Public Appearances
After their relationship became public, Gauri began accompanying Aamir to selected events and appearances. Their relationship remained relatively private, however, with the couple largely staying away from extensive public discussion of their personal lives.
Aamir had earlier indicated that his family was supportive of the relationship. Gauri also reportedly developed a close relationship with members of his family.
The actor confirmed his wedding plans shortly before the ceremony, describing the event as a very small celebration at home involving both families and a few close friends. Reports before the wedding said the guest list was deliberately limited and that the marriage would be registered at the Bandra residence.
A Family-Focused Celebration
The ceremony was designed as a private family occasion rather than a major industry event. Reports indicated that the couple’s children from previous relationships were expected to have a meaningful role in the celebrations.
Aamir has three children from his previous marriages. He shares Junaid Khan and Ira Khan with his first wife, Reena Dutta, while he and filmmaker Kiran Rao have a son, Azad Rao Khan.
Gauri is also a mother from a previous marriage.
The marriage marks another milestone in a relationship that developed away from the spotlight before becoming public. From an initial meeting in Bengaluru decades ago to an unexpected reunion and, ultimately, a quiet monsoon wedding in Mumbai, Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt’s journey has been defined by a long personal connection and a deliberately private approach to their relationship.
With the ceremony completed in the company of those closest to them, the couple now begins a new chapter together after a relationship that took more than two decades to come full circle.
